Possible school closures in Calaveras Unified School District to be discussed at CUSD Board meeting tonight 8-19-14

As tough economic times hit the foothills and questions surround the possibility of mismanaged funds within the Calaveras Unified School District, potential school closures are being discussed.

The following is a plea from a concerned citizen, J. DeMasters:

Calling all Calaveras County Residents!
Tomorrow, Tuesday the 19th, Toyon Middle School, 5:30 pm
There WILL be a vote made on whether or not to close three of our up country elementary schools - Mokelumne Hill, West Point and Rail Road Flat. This is not an acceptable solution. The cancellation of all CUSD Athletics and Music/Art programs is up vote as well. Again, not acceptable. We have the right to demand acceptable and agreed upon solutions to our current economic challenges, mainly the mismanagement of funds. The Board of Supervisors are elected by us, they should vote according to OUR wants and OUR demands for our children.
Tomorrow, Tuesday the 19th, Toyon Middle School, 5:30 pm
ACTION REQUIRED:
Community must come together in order to stop this! Parents, Alumni, Business Owners, Residents, Employee's, ... Pleae SHOW UP at the Board Meeting tomorrow evening, Tuesday the 19th, at Toyon Middle School, 5:30pm. MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD! Do whatever it takes to get to this meeting.
