Statement by Assemblyman Bigelow on Bipartisan Passage of Comprehensive Water Bond Legislation

SACRAMENTO – Assemblyman Frank Bigelow, R-O’Neals, the vice chair of the Assembly Committee on Water, Parks and Wildlife, today issued the following statement after the committee passed comprehensive water bond legislation, Assembly Bill 2043, that he co-authored with Assembly Republican Leader Connie Conway, of Tulare and Assembly Bill 2686 that he jointly authored with Assemblyman Henry Perea (D-Fresno), Assemblyman Adam Gray (D-Merced) and Assemblyman Rudy Salas (D-Bakersfield.)

“Given the difficult task we all face to address the water needs of every region in California, I thank my colleagues on both sides of the aisle for moving our proposals forward. I look forward to continuing to work across party lines that will provide for the long-term needs of our state.”
“For generations now, we have neglected our state’s primary water system. I don’t want to debate it for yet another generation while nothing gets done. Something must be presented to the voters this year. I believe our plan represents the realistic compromise that can be supported by both the Legislature and the voters.”
