Castle & Cooke donates to Sheriff Dept Volunteer Unit

In March 2014, the Calaveras Sheriff Volunteer Unit received a $3,000 donation from Mr. Dave Haley, VP & Division Manager of Castle & Cooke Calaveras Inc., just in time to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Volunteer Unit.

Castle & Cooke Calaveras Inc. planned and developed Saddle Creek Resort, a 830-acre private resort and golf community located in Copperopolis.  This private community provides custom and estate lots for custom and semi-custom homes with a scenic 18-hole golf course and club house inside the community.

The Calaveras Sheriff Volunteer Unit was established in 1989 with the purpose of assisting the Calaveras Sheriff’s Office in administrative and other duties, including but limited to patrol school, residential and commercial areas, vacation house checks, paper service, crowd and traffic control at public events.

The Volunteer Unit is looking at 2014 as the Year of Action in its recruitment effort so as to take on additional workload assisting the Sheriff’s Office and enabling the Sheriff’s deputies to focus on their primary duty of law enforcement.

Serious-minded Calaveras County citizens, retired or semi-retired, wishing to help their community and meeting the qualification and requirement are encouraged to apply by calling the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office at (209) 754-5600, or visit sheriff@calaveras.ca.us.  Seniors are welcome and no law enforcement experience is necessary.
