Sheriff Office Volunteer Unit celebrates 25 years of service



On February 11th, 2104, the Calaveras County Board of Supervisor celebrated the 25th Anniversary of the Calaveras Sheriff Office Volunteer Unit.  The Board unanimously adopted a Resolution recognizing the importance and contribution of the Volunteer Unit to the safety and welfare of the residents of Calaveras County for the past 25 years.

            In the presence of Calaveras County Sheriff Gary Kuntz, the Sheriff Liaison Officer with the Volunteer Unit, Captain Jim Macedo and the Volunteer Captain Betty Miner, the Chairperson, Supervisor Debbie Ponte, read the adopted Resolution. 



            During the presentation, many individual members of the Volunteer Unit were publicly recognized for their personal contribution in terms of years of service to the Unit as well as the number of personal hours volunteered each year.

            Sheriff Kuntz gave a brief history of the Voluntary Unit from its formation in 1989 to the present organization which assists the Sheriff’s Office in many essential duties when the Volunteer Unit is called upon to serve.  Sheriff Kuntz further commented that current Volunteer members come from all walks of life and provide a pool of talents from which the Sheriff’s Office can be benefited. 

            On behalf of all the Sheriff Volunteers, Volunteer Unit Captain Betty Miner was presented a Certificate of Appreciation from the Sheriff Office.
