Sheriff Dept Press release re: encouraging drivers to limit their travels to essential only travel during winter weather

Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center is receiving reports of several snow related incidents involving vehicles off the roadway Hwy 49 near Rawhide in Tuolumne County, Hwy 4 three miles west of Angels Camp, and Hwy 4 east up the Utica grade towards Arnold. Department of Public Works is aware of conditions on the roadway and is working hard at snow plow operations. Please use caution and residents are encouraged to limit their travels to essential travel only at this time.
Persons traveling in mountainous areas should carry chains, blankets, food, water, and extra warm clothing in their vehicles. To report lane blockages, or other county road issues, please call 754-6402 and to obtain the current status of snow removal on county roads, please call 754-6017. As always, please report any emergency situations via 9-1-1
