Sheriff Dept Press Release re: Burglars Arrested in Arnold

(Arnold, CA) On 10/24/12 at approx. 8:00 am a Calaveras Sheriff’s deputy responded to a residence on the 2900 block of Murphys Drive, Arnold, for a residential alarm. Once at the residence the deputy located a broken window leading into the house. He also spotted a white GMC Sierra truck parked nearby that appeared suspicious in nature. As the deputy continued to search the exterior of the residence he heard the truck start up and drive away. He radioed the truck’s description to additional deputies and Angels Camp Police Officers who were en route to the scene. An Angels Camp Police Officer located and stopped the truck near the residence. The officer and another deputy contacted two occupants of the truck, Trevor M. Azzaro (31) and Stacy F. Quashnick (32), both of Murphys.

Upon further investigation the deputies found that the residence had been forcefully entered through a window, and found evidence linking Suspects Azzaro and Quashnick to the crime. While interviewing the two suspects the deputies located burglary tools (pry bar, screwdriver, metal file, hammer, etc.) and stolen property inside the truck, including musical instruments and electronics. Additionally, the deputies located possible stolen items that linked them to a second residential burglary from a house on the 2400 block of Murphys Drive. Suspect Azzaro, while being interviewed, admitted to the burglaries. Both suspects were arrested and booked into the Calaveras County Jail. The truck was impounded and turned over to the Calaveras Sheriff’s Detective Division for further investigation. The owner of one of the residences was contacted, but out of the area at the time and unable to provide a list of what items had been taken from his house. This investigation is ongoing.

Both suspects were charged with Residential Burglary, Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of Burglary Tools, and Conspiracy to Commit a Crime and are both being held on $60,000 bond.

If anyone should have additional information connected to this case, or any other burglary cases, they are asked to contact the Calaveras Sheriff’s Detective Division at 209-754-6500.
