Heather Hanson of Valley Springs, “National Cover Miss” 2011
is about to pass her crown to the 2012 winner of the crown in November,
just over a month from now, at a ceremony in Los Angeles before a
national audience. During the ceremony she will briefly talk about her
year as National Cover Miss and her goals for the future including a
proposal for ways to make her community better in some way, working with
area leaders.
Before leaving for college this fall Heather met with
Calaveras County District Attorney Barbara Yook after which I had the
chance to eat lunch with Heather and her Mother Kathy at the Pickle
Patch and then escort them to Capital Hill to meet with our Assembly
Member Kristin Olsen.

It’s amazing what a huge year Heather had in 2012 as the National
Cover Miss, recipient of the highest award in Girl Scouts the “Gold
Award”, her graduation from Calaveras High School with honors and now
attending college in the Seattle Washington area.
