Sheriff Dept press releases re:arrest intoxication and child endangerment

On 11-16-11 at about 2323 hours the Calaveras Co. Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol were dispatched to 7449 Esmeralda Drive, Angels Camp for a report a vehicle accident that resulted in a physical fight. Upon arrival, deputies discovered an intoxicated female driver (Jasmine Grant), two intoxicated passengers, and three young children all under six years of age. The investigation revealed that the male occupant of the suspect vehicle started a physical fight with an occupant of the crash victim’s vehicle. The suspect was restrained by the victim until he calmed down.
CHP arrived a subsequently arrested Jasmine Grant and charged her with driving while intoxicated and child endangerment (a felony). A second female, Elizabeth Grant (Jasmine’s sister-in-law), was arrested for public intoxication and child endangerment (a felony) due to her not properly securing her children in car seats, and riding with a driver whom she knew to be intoxicated.
