Copperopolis Town Square Announces Thanksgiving Weekend Events

(COPPEROPOLIS, Calif.) – Copperopolis Town Square – the events, shopping and entertainment gathering place in Calaveras County – announces its schedule of events for Thanksgiving weekend, including the annual “Tree Lighting” ceremony Friday, Nov. 25 from 5-7 p.m. and “Old Fashioned Holiday” festival Saturday, Nov. 26 from 12-7 p.m.
The “Tree Lighting” is one of the most anticipated events of the year, signifying the beginning of the holiday season in Copperopolis Town Square. As day turns to night, residents, visitors, store owners and their staffs will gather around the holiday tree in the center of the square and sing carols led by local favorite John Campanella and special guests. Complimentary hot chocolate and cookies will be served to all.

Saturday, the “Old Fashioned Holiday” festival offers a peaceful day of diverse shopping and casual dining including Griff’s BBQ & Grill, which opened in June, and Panini’s Italian Grill, under new ownership since October. Families are invited to take a ride with Santa in a horse-drawn carriage; kids are encouraged to give Santa Christmas wish-lists and take photos on a pony presented by Copper Valley Trail Company.
Live music begins at 1 p.m. with June Diggle, a renowned flautist from Sonora and her first performance in Copperopolis Town Square. The Merrie Olde Christmas Carolers from Sacramento will also roam the square caroling visitors, starting at 4 p.m.
“Our annual holiday events at Copperopolis Town Square bring an incredible level of excitement to the region,” says Linda Stefanick, Vice President and Event Director for Castle & Cooke Calaveras, Inc. “We invite the community to join us for ‘National Shop Small Day’ and visit our new and longstanding businesses. It is important for our local economy to continue supporting the local 'Mom and Pop' shops.”
Copperopolis Town Square is situated in the rolling foothills of the Central Sierra on Highway 4 in Calaveras County, two hours from the Bay Area and 1.5 hours from Sacramento. The area offers visitors a wide variety of amenities and activities including: golf, tennis and dining at acclaimed Saddle Creek Resort with accommodations for guests in luxurious Lodge Bungalows conveniently located within a few paces of the golf course; boating on Lake Tulloch; eateries, restaurants and artisan shops at Copperopolis Town Square; and scenic guided trail rides on horseback. The Copper Station recently opened for motorists on Highway 4 seeking a place to refresh and refill midway between San Francisco and Lake Tahoe.
