Veteran Community Picnic - Old Fashion Fun

On Sunday September 25, 2011 the Copperopolis Veterans hosted a community picnic open to all members of the Copperopolis community. There were antique WWII jeeps on display, antique fire engines, live music, hotdogs, gunny sack races, and so much more.

The event was opened with a prayer by Father Jim from the Church of the Ascension and a reading of the POW prayer. Following the prayer the national anthem was sung beautifully by Rachel Brousseau, a Bret Harte Sophmore and Copperopolis resident.

The Copperopolis Veterans group is a group committed to starting a VFW Post in Copperopolis and committed to community involvement.

WWII Veteran Mel Ogg

Korean Veteran Bill Skellenger

The winner!

Just about the cutest firefighter ever.

If you are interested in joining the efforts to form a VFW Post in Copperopolis please attend a meeting the 3rd Sunday of each month at 2:00 in the 8A meeting room or email your questions to Commander Al Gilbert at coppervfw@gmail.com.

If you missed this fun event, keep your eyes open for the next big event the Copperopolis Veterans have in the works. News of the event will be posted as it comes in.
