Letter from Al Segalla re: Wildfire Protection Tax

On Wednesday state Senator Ted Gaines filed paperwork that would ask voters to overturn the $150 Fire tax, which was passed by the state Legislature on a simple majority vote as part of the state budget package.

Senator Ted Gaines is seeking to repeal the bill recently signed by Governor Jerry Brown that places the annual wildfire protection tax for property owners in rural areas of California. When petitions are available, we will post them on our website. More information about the tax is HERE.

The Senator also will be the keynote speaker at the Calaveras County Taxpayers Associations Forth Annual BBQ, at Moaning Cavern Resort on Wednesday, August 3rd,  5 - 8 PM. The dinner will be catered by the Historic Murphys Hotel. If you come early you can enjoy fun zip line rides. Seats are still available and you can get more information and sign up HERE. Or call 209-785-1491
