Interviews for CFPD Fire Chief Continue This Morning

At the June 11, 2011 CFPD Board of Directors public meeting, the Board announced that the Copperopolis Fire Protection District Fire Chief position was offered to Steve DeChellis of Coeur d'Alene Idaho.  The job was offered with the caviat that there be successful completion of a background investigation.

According to the posted agenda for the Copperopolis Fire Protection District Board meeting, the closed session for July, 22, 2011 will include:

5.     Excuse the Public for Closed Session Subject.     Pursuant to Government Code Section 54957.  Interviews of candidate (s) for the position of Fire Chief.

When contacted, CFPD Consultant Larry Crabtree was "not at liberty to discuss" the issue.

The following statement was issued by CFPD Board Chairman Maness, "The Board of Directors decided not to appoint Mr. De Chellis.  On Friday the Board will convene in closed session to interview three candidates who are very well qualified to assume the duties of Chief of the Copperopolis Fire Protection District."
